About Chase Insurance Services
Small town service. Long-term relationships. Honest coverage.
Our Story
Chase Insurance Services grew out of two small-town agencies with roots going back to the 1950s.
In 1997, Robin Chase purchased Ironside Insurance Agency in Hastings. In 1998, she purchased Geiger Insurance in Lake Odessa. Guided by her father's insurance career and her own passion for helping people, Robin set out to build an agency that felt friendly, local, and personal.
As the business grew, Robin moved the agency from Hastings to Freeport and finally to Lake Odessa. Along the way, she stayed focused on one simple mission: Small town, friendly, personal service.
Today, that tradition continues as Robin Chase Insurance Agency became Chase Insurance Services when Eric, Robin's son has taken over the insurance company. We carry forward the same values, the same care for clients, and the same local roots, with a fresh name for the next chapter.
What makes us different
We are a small town, personable agency. We take the time to get to know you, your family, your property, and your vehicles.
We do not guess at coverage. We learn about your home, your farm, your toys, and your business, so we can help set values that make sense for your real life. Our goal is simple. When something happens, your insurance should do what you thought it would do.
A few things we are proud of:
- 94% retention ratio: Most of our clients stay with us, year after year. That trust means everything to us.
- Reputation built on relationships
- We have grown through referrals, word of mouth, and long-term clients who send their friends and family.
- Flexible and innovative service: If you cannot make it to our office to sign forms or make a payment, we find a way to help. We use phone, email, and digital tools to make things easier, while keeping that personal touch.
- Independent and client-focused
- We are not tied to one insurance company. We work with multiple carriers, so we can help you compare options and build a plan that fits your budget and your needs.
How we help protect what matters
Our job is to help you feel confident that your valuables are protected. We look at your full picture and help you build a competitive policy that makes sense.
We can help with:
- Auto insurance
- Home and renter’s insurance
- Farm insurance
- Commercial insurance
- Flood insurance
- Transportation coverage (ATV, collector car, motorcycle)
- Specialty Dwelling (rental or vacant homes)
- Umbrella insurance for extra protection
We explain coverage in plain language and help you understand where you are protected and where you may have gaps. You should never feel rushed or confused.
Meet THE Chase Insurance Services team
Eric Chase
Owner / Agent / Farm & Commercial Specialist
I am the owner and agent at Chase Insurance Services. For the past 15 years, I have served our community through the Robin Chase Insurance Agency, where I helped run the office and focused on farm and commercial insurance. I enjoy working with people who live and work in rural areas and helping them protect what they have worked hard to build.
Insurance can feel confusing, so I try to make it simple and clear. I take time to learn about your farm, business, home, and vehicles, then help you choose coverage that fits your real needs, not just a number on a page.
Outside the office, I have competed with the United States National Wheelchair Rugby Team and coached the University of Michigan Wheelchair Rugby Team. Those experiences taught me a lot about teamwork, leadership, and staying focused when things are tough. I bring those same values into my work with clients and into my support of local youth sports and community events.
As Chase Insurance Services moves into its next chapter, my goal is to offer honest advice, strong coverage options, and friendly, personal service to every client. I am proud to continue the legacy of insurance service that has supported this community for decades.
Heidi Makley
Licensed Insurance Agent / Personal Lines Specialist
Heidi is a licensed insurance agent who focuses on personal lines coverage. Since 2017, she has helped families understand their options and choose protection that fits their everyday lives.
As a small town resident, Heidi enjoys working with people who value honesty, clear communication, and long-term relationships. She takes time to learn about each client’s home, vehicles, and life situation, then explains coverage in simple terms so they can feel confident in their choices. Her goal is to help clients protect what matters most, without confusion or pressure.
Heidi is known for being patient, detailed, and dependable. Whether she is helping with a new policy, a coverage review, or a claim, she works to make the process smooth and less stressful.
Outside the office, Heidi enjoys reading, staying active through recreational sports, and spending time with her family. That focus on family and balance guides the way she serves her clients and supports her community.
Robin Chase
PART-TIME Agent
Robin Chase started the agency in 1997 when she purchased Ironside Insurance in Hastings, then Geiger Insurance in Lake Odessa in 1998. From the very beginning, her goal was simple: provide small-town, friendly, personal service and truly protect what people worked hard to build.
For decades, Robin has helped families, farmers, and local businesses understand their coverage and choose policies that fit their real needs. She built the agency on trust, clear communication, and long-term relationships, which helped create the strong reputation and high client retention the agency has today.
Robin is proud to see Chase Insurance Services carry on the family tradition of service. As she moves into part-time work and prepares for retirement, she continues to support the team with her knowledge, experience, and care for the community she has served for so many years.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why should I use a local insurance agent instead of buying online?
A local agent helps you with more than just price. We:
• Review your full situation (home, auto, farm, business, toys)
• Explain coverage in simple terms
• Spot gaps or overlaps in your policies
• Compare options from multiple insurance companies
• Help you at claim time, not just at quote time
You get real guidance, not just an online form.
-
What information do I need to get an accurate insurance quote?
It depends on the type of policy, but in general we may ask for:
• Name, address, and contact information
• Details on your home or rental (year built, updates, size)
• Vehicle details (year, make, model, VIN)
• Farm or business info for farm and commercial insurance
• Current insurance and coverage limits
•Any claims or accident history
The more accurate your details, the more accurate your quote.
-
What does auto insurance usually cover?
Auto insurance can include:
• Liability if you injure someone or damage property
• Collision for damage to your car in an accident
• Comprehensive for theft, fire, hail, or hitting an animal
• Medical coverage (depending on your state)
• Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage
We help you choose limits and deductibles that fit your budget and risk.
-
How can an agent help with home, renter’s, or specialty dwelling insurance?
A local agent can help you:
• Set the right value for your home or rental property
• Understand what is covered (and what is not)
• Add coverage for things like jewelry, tools, or collections
• Choose the right policy type for rentals, seasonal homes, or vacant homes
• Make sure liability coverage is high enough to protect your assets
We look at how you live in and use the property, then match coverage to that.
-
What is farm insurance and how is it different from home insurance?
Farm insurance is designed for people who live, work, or earn income from a farm or hobby farm. It can cover:
• Farm homes and outbuildings
• Barns, silos, and machine sheds
• Farm equipment and tools
• Livestock (on some policies)
• Farm liability if someone is hurt or property is damaged
We can visit your farm (or review photos) and help list the right buildings, equipment, and limits.
-
What does commercial insurance cover for my business?
Commercial insurance can protect:
• Your building, tools, and inventory
• Business income if you cannot operate after a covered loss
• General liability (slips, falls, or damage you cause to others)
• Business vehicles
• Some types of professional or product liability
We learn how your business works, then help build a policy around your real risks.
-
Is flood damage covered by my home, farm, or renter’s policy?
In most cases, no. Standard home, farm, and renter’s insurance usually does not cover flood damage from rising water.
Flood insurance is usually a separate policy.
We can:
• Check whether you are in a flood zone
• Explain what flood insurance covers
• Provide quotes so you can decide if it makes sense for you
-
What is umbrella insurance and when should I consider it?
Umbrella insurance adds extra liability protection on top of your:
• Auto
• Home or renter’s
• Farm
• Some business policies
It can help if you are involved in a major accident or lawsuit that is larger than your base policy limits.
If you have a home, savings, or other assets to protect, an umbrella policy is worth considering. We can help you decide how much coverage makes sense.
-
Do I need special insurance for ATVs, collector vehicles, and motorcycles?
In many cases, yes. ATVs, collector vehicles, and motorcycles often need their own policies to:
• Meet state insurance requirements
• Cover damage to the vehicle
• Protect you if you injure someone or damage property
Collector vehicles may qualify for “agreed value” coverage. We help you choose the right policy for how and how often you use each vehicle.
-
How often should I review my insurance policies with an agent?
It is smart to review your insurance at least once a year, and anytime you:
• Move, buy, or sell a home
• Add a teen driver or buy a new vehicle
• Start a business or side job
• Buy a farm, equipment, or rental property
• Add toys like ATVs, motorcycles, or boats
A quick review helps keep your coverage and limits up to date as life changes.

Caliber Sewer & Drain
Extremely good customer service. The only reason we switched was due to cost, but have recently come back as prices were lower and we found out that you can't get the quality customer service elsewhere.
